I'm surprised that the New York Times actually published this revealing story:

A bigger girlie man would be someone whose idea of rebelling is leaving his lights on. Or is that just a pathetic, lonely moron? Sometimes I have difficulty classifying someone like that.

It's Chris A. from your Western Standard blog.
I followed you here, because you're obviously intelligent, but incredibly misguided about how oil extraction (or any mineral mining) works.
Answer me this. When a gold mine is first dug, is it at its peak production rate?
When it closes, does it close at the highest rate of return, or when the going gets tough and the gold seam ends?
Why would you think Oil to be any different?
Common sense would tell you that of course it would work the same. Wether it's a little oil field in Pennsylvania, or Ghawar in Arabia.. they all follow the same pattern.
WHich is why you can ball them all up into one giant reserve for the whole darn planet... when that peak is reached, it don't matter how many other fields you tap or holes you dig, it just ain't going to make up for the rate you could get from the biggest and best.
I urge you to open your mind and read a book about it. Or, go onto www.theoildrum.com and look for the OilWatch Monthly posts. It's straight data, no BS. Ignore all the doomers... just focus on the data and use your brain.
