Reporting for Duty
I’ve been gone for a while. This I know. Frankly, I was tired, busy, and, to a certain extent, unmotivated to write about politics. We’d won and, as I said, that ought to have allowed some of us to take a breather of some length. Alas, it seems that events will not make such allowances. I’m speaking, of course, of the whole of the “Valerie Plame” fiasco. Long-time readers will already know what I think of the character of Ms. Plame and Mr. Wilson, as well as my opinion of the merits of their claims. Suffice it to say it was, and remains, my belief that if anyone ought to be in legal jeopardy here, it ought to be those two. The real story of the Joe Wilson/Valerie Plame incident is how certain rogue leftist elements within the Central Intelligence Agency and other elements of the American foreign policy establishment sought to undermine and oppose the policies of the nation’s elected leader. The real story of Plamegate is one about a leftist infiltrator within the CIA who (unethically at the very least) dispatched her unqualified husband in an effort to bury intelligence which didn’t suit the agenda of her and her allies. It’s the story of how a glory-hound husband recklessly exposed the wife whose privacy he claims to value beyond all else by spitting out lies and distortions in a national newspaper. As I’ve said many times before, whoever did “out” Plame ought to get a medal for their gallant service to the United States in exposing the work of an obvious subversive operating within the government of the United States. Alas, what I think ought to happen and what typically does happen are, quite sadly, very different things. We don’t yet know what will happen, but we’ve now good a good picture as to the shape of things. First, it does not seem that Rove or Libby are going to be charged with the “outing” itself. Second, if they are to be indicted, it seems likely that they will be indicted for some “crime” allegedly committed during the investigation of a non-crime. Perjury, obstruction of justice, lying to Federal officials, etc. It’s exactly the same thing that happened to Martha Stewart. Third, it’s clear that this is the opening of a general offensive by the Democratic Party and their co-conspirators in the media and the judiciary. I expect them to, in the event of indictments, first attempt to force the resignation of Vice President Cheney and, second, to attempt to remove President Bush from office – perhaps with a target date of January 2007 for the final removal. This is a serious matter. The Democratic Party was, long ago, captured by the forces of treason. Under the leadership of individuals who believe that all enemies of the United States are angelic creatures, the greatest moments in modern history are the American “defeat” in Vietnam and Watergate. Ever since then, they’ve obsessively been trying to recreate both. Like Humbert Humbert in Lolita, the Democrats’ minds were frozen in those days of their youth and, ever since then, they’ve been trying to recaptured the lost euphoria and joy of those days. And, like Mr. Humbert, they are capable of sowing massive destruction in their perverse and obsessive quest. They wish to destroy this President, as they did Nixon. They wish to see America defeated, as we were in Vietnam. In adopting these aims the Democrat-media complex have shown themselves to be nothing less than enemies of the United States. What is stopping them? Less than we’d like to admit. They did it last time, and it’s more than possible that they may do it again. Certainly, at this point in time they are on the offensive and we are in retreat. Already there are certain Republicans ready to buckle under the onslaught of the enemy. There’s an important thing we have to keep in mind here: our forces are incapable of enduring the kind of siege that was laid upon the Clinton Administration during the 1998-1999. Unlike the Democrats, we don’t have a sympathetic media to minimize wrongdoing, assault the inquisitors, and create an image of victimhood. Additionally, unlike the Democrats, Republicans are not nearly so cohesive or willing to get their hands dirty in the service of the cause. I have little doubt that the alleged Republicans who classify themselves as “moderates” will, under the right conditions, abandon this President. Some of the President’s more difficult supporters are already, for a variety of reasons, practically eager to abandon him. But I, for one, will not abandon this President. Nor, I hope will any loyal Republican or lover of America. George W. Bush is a great man and a man who I admire a great deal. But there is more at stake here than merely the political fate of George Walker Bush. At stake is the future of the United States and of America’s glorious cause overseas. Endangered is the future of Western Civilization, already fading in its European motherland, of which the United States remains the last, best, hope. The only viable solution here is to take the fight to the enemy – to launch an offensive designed to make use of rapid and overwhelming force to grind the bastards into the dirt. Only a battle with no quarter asked for or received can offer us the salvation that we must now seek. It goes without saying that any prosecution of Rove or Libby would be malicious and vindictive. But that doesn’t mean that it will not happen. We need to shake ourselves out of our complacency and to gird ourselves for war. If any Administration official is indicted, President Bush should pardon them and then go on national television. He should go on television and then tell the American people the real truth (shaded as necessary) of the left’s treasonous goals and designs. He should tell the people about how Joe Wilson is an inveterate liar whose distortions have been exposed at length. If the time has come to declare war against the enemy at home, so be it. It’s time that we tell the American people the truth about seventy years of treason on the part of certain elements of the Democrat Party – and of the thirty-five years since the forces of treason took national control of the Democrat Party. Now is the time to suit up and prepare for battle. I don’t know what is coming. But I know what I shall do. We are now engaged in a great struggle for the future of our civilization. If we lose – if we allow this great man to fall at the hands of traitors and opportunists – it will raise the curtain upon the era of the decline and defeat of American, and indeed Western, civilization. We must win this battle, whatever the cost may be. I shall write again soon.
Comments:
Yay! Adam's back and he's still as bug-fuck crazy as ever! :)
Vindictive prosecutions? Gosh, who could have taught the Democrats that was ok? :) The phrase you're looking for is 'hoist by their own petard'. :) Oh, and 'party of treason'? Yeah, uh, I think the Republicans have betrayed their treasonous bent for all to see. Not a lame duck president at all, more like an albatross around the US's neck.
Sadly predictable, I know, but every time Adam accuses someone else of "treason", I am honour-bound to link to a post in which he explicitly called for his native country (Canada) to be invaded by a foreign power (the US).
Still, it takes one to know one.
"Now is the time to suit up and prepare for battle. I don’t know what is coming. But I know what I shall do."
Adam, the next word after this absurd statement was not ENLIST. So you a) don't really know what you shall do, and b) reinforced everyone's notion of you being the fattest, greasiest, saddest hypocrite to blight Canada by entitling this entry "Reporting for Duty". Your Spiderman PJs don't really count as a battle suit, Adam, unless the foe you're fighting is a family sized bag of Cheetohs.
I particularly liked this comment:
(I)f they [Rove and Libby] are to be indicted, it seems likely that they will be indicted for some “crime” allegedly committed during the investigation of a non-crime. Perjury, obstruction of justice, lying to Federal officials, etc. It’s exactly the same thing that happened to Martha Stewart. Now replace "Martha Stewart" with "Bill Clinton" and you've pretty much got a clear view of the Republican party's motives during the Whitewater and Lewinsky investigations. The sheer hypocrisy of this guy would be funny if so many other neo-con blowhards didn't agree with him. Unfortunately, they do, and that's a pretty scary thing
Scooter indicted for *exactly* what the Republican Congress impeached Bill Clinton for.
Ah, karma rocks!
"Second, if they are to be indicted, it seems likely that they will be indicted for some “crime” allegedly committed during the investigation of a non-crime. Perjury, obstruction of justice, lying to Federal officials, etc."
I've got news for you, Adam - crimes are defined by US law, not by the say-so of a deranged Canadian lardbucket with questionable logical skills. So if US law regards the outing of an undercover agent as a crime, it's a crime. And if US law regards lying under oath in court as a crime, it's a crime. And if someone in the Bush administration does something legally defined as a crime, they're a criminal. Most people can probably get their heads around these concepts with little difficulty, though I concede that Adam might struggle with the last one in particular.
Actually True North, it is much much worse than what Clinton did.
Clinton was being investigated for Whitewater. Then he was being investigated for Paula Jones. He ended up lying to the grand jury about a personal matter, wholly unrelated to either. Libby was lying about the underlying crime. Thus he was truly obstructing justice. Plus, this underlying crime is a bit different than a potentially sketchy land deal for personal profit. Which wasn't ever proven. This is the destruction of a vital government asset (on WMD proliferation no less!), in the name of politically motivated revenge. Blowjobs might be something our host is unfamiliar with however, getting one, even while married, is not a crime. So that is your distinction. Perjury is a crime by itself, but lying about an actual crime is a bit different than not admitting you are cheating on your wife.
Yes I can see a great army gathering behind you - not!!
You pathetic lard-assed, cheeto-stained waste of space. Note to Americans: We don't want him. Will you please take him off our hands? I would be so eternally grateful. Signed, A thoroughly disgusted Canuck
Dude you are NOT an American. So STFU!
But you might get to be one by joining the military. Try that, if you live and become an American then you can mouth off all you want. Hey, is Gary Locke your dad?
This writer makes me ashamed to know that there are still some Canadians that believe in completely insane shit. You don't know fuck all of what you speak.
Theres a wall of names at CIA headquarters with blank slated stars, those stars represent people who really defended the nation and died doing so, not some deluded jism stain. Many of those stars are there because of careless, vindictive leaks like the one out of Dick Cheyneys office. Not to mention the hundreds of other aquaintences and assets at risk. In short your a smacktard.
Second, if they are to be indicted, it seems likely that they will be indicted for some “crime” allegedly committed during the investigation of a non-crime. Perjury, obstruction of justice, lying to Federal officials, etc. It’s exactly the same thing that happened to Martha Stewart.
It's also exactly the same thing that happened to Bill Clinton. And yet Adam strangely missed that much more obvious analogy. Interesting. And by "interesting" I mean fucktard hypocritical beyond all measure of belief.
I'd encourage Adam to join our fine country's Canadian Forces, if for no other reason than to get access to some kind of education, which Mr. Yoshida sorely needs. However, I respect our men and women in uniform, and believe Adam would be a detriment to any workforce save for McDonald's.
I apologize to all the Americans that have happened upon here. We're normally a sensible bunch, but there's at least one in every country, eh?
I've known people that have worked in a Canadian Mcdonalds, and Adam wouldn't last ten minutes.
He'd be fired right after he'd refuse to keep his *unique* opinions to himself, because the average Canadian on the street would think this guy was a total fascist. not to mention all the missing food. Not that they ever would have heard of him that is, I, for instance, learned of him from an American blog that makes fun of him. (one of many).
FITZGERALD: At the end of the day what appears is that Mr. Libby's story that he was at the tail end of a chain of phone calls, passing on from one reporter what he heard from another, was not true.
It was false. He was at the beginning of the chain of phone calls, the first official to disclose this information outside the government to a reporter. And then he lied about it afterwards, under oath and repeatedly. This is a very serious matter and compromising national security information is a very serious matter. But the need to get to the bottom of what happened and whether national security was compromised by inadvertence, by recklessness, by maliciousness is extremely important. We need to know the truth. And anyone who would go into a grand jury and lie, obstruct and impede the investigation has committed a serious crime. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/28/AR2005102801340.html

I honestly hoped that Adam would grow out of his... obsessions. I've watched him grow and evolve from a lying 15 year old on Usenet to an odious, fascist, (dare I say) fundamentally evil waste of space on his own blog. I would suggest therapy, but I'm begin to think that short of actually putting him in an institution for a while, he's incurably nuts. |
